Dr. Jong Hyun Ban
Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Ban is a Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry, providing the full scope of pediatric dentistry, which includes patients with special needs, as well as growth and developmental needs.

He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, British Columbia Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Dental Specialist Society of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Dental Association.

Dr. Ban studied Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Suma Kum Laude). He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in at the New York University College of Dentistry. He then completed a General Practice Residency in Bronx, NY, where he gained invaluable experience in oral rehabilitation and oral surgery.

Dr. Ban finished his residency in pediatric dentistry at the Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. During his specialty training, he served as Chief Resident where he received extensive training in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and growth and development. He remained at Lutheran Medical Center as attending dentist and taught pediatric dental residents. He decided to move back to his hometown, and joined the staff at BC Children's Hospital, Department of Dentistry.

Dr. Ban taught at BC Children's Hospital and was also an Associate Clinical Professor in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of British Columbia, teaching both in undergraduate and graduate level until January 2014.
More about Dr. Li
Dr. Li obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of British Columbia and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Medicine. She also completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at the University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health where she obtained a Masters in Professional Health Education.

Upon completion of her studies in the United States, Dr. Li practiced dentistry in Singapore focusing on the pediatric population. Her experience in Singapore drew her to return to her hometown in Greater Vancouver to study Pediatric Dentistry at the University of British Columbia, where she obtained a Masters in Craniofacial Science.

Dr. Li is a Pediatric Dentistry fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a member of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, British Columbia Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the British Columbia Dental Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Li likes to jog, practice yoga, and travel with her family and friends. She recently started biking, so don’t be surprised if you recognize her on one of the popular cycling routes!​

She is committed to providing comprehensive dental care for infants, adolescents, those who are medically compromised, and children with special needs.
Dr. Jassica Sarai

Dr. Jassica Sarai is a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry. She believes in fostering strong dentist-child relationships through her gentle, and caring approach to dental care. This in turn helps achieve her goal of creating positive dental experiences for every child. Dr. Jassica understands that many children are nervous to visit the dental office. However, by taking the time to explain the steps for each procedure, much of the anxiety can be alleviated.
More about Dr. Sarai
Dr. Jassica received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2015 from the University of British Columbia. After working in the lower mainland as a general dentist for 2 years, she decided to pursue her passion for pediatric dentistry. Dr. Jassica returned to the University of British Columbia to complete her speciality training in Pediatric Dentistry (2020). During her training, she spent 2 years working in the dental clinic at BC Children’s Hospital where she provided comprehensive dental care for children with complex medical needs. She concurrently obtained
a Masters in Craniofacial science. The aim of her research was understanding space maintenance, which focuses on treatment options for the early loss of baby teeth. For the past 4 years Dr. Jassica has worked full time as a pediatric dentist in the Lower Mainland, and is excited to provide comprehensive care for the children at Little Smiles.
She is also a member of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the British Columbia Dental Association.
Dr. Jassica is a new mom herself. She recently had a baby girl earlier this year! So, when she’snot working, she’s spending her time with her husband and new bundle of joy.
